Afro-beat artiste Josze, pronounced and also known as Joszay, brings in the spirit of high-life and Afro Jazz on his recently dropped single, Omo Ekun. Omo Ekun feels like a true celebration of Nigerian music. With its infectious beats and high life rhythm, the soft blowing trumpet accompanying his strong vocal timbre, Josze brings in the beautiful, dynamic energy of the Afrobeats pioneer, Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
The word ‘Ekun’ means tiger and so the artiste sets the pace of the music like in the context of a fierce, musical tiger. Unstoppable to each and every force, Josze continues to reaffirm exactly who he is. Omo Ekun, is a symbolic song of strength and a confident, stubborn self assurance. He sings about remaining a rebellious figure, in the face of people who are bothered by his musical successes and journey, and with his high knowledge of self worth and confidence, he continues to stand tall against these adversaries, a true Ekun and an Alagidi (stubborn one) in the face of any and everyone, in a positively determined and focused light.
Omo Ekun is also a tribute to his tribe, background and culture He douses so subtly in the background of the track, a string of Yoruba orikis (praise words) as he constantly sings confessionally that he is indeed an Omo Oloyemekun
