Darkoo, Davido, Rvssian: Right Now
Darkoo has been quite consistent with hitting us with fire releases and iconic features. We’re still reeling off ‘favorite girl’ but the young artiste says there’s more where that came from on her new single, ‘Right now’. Produced by the Jamaican, genre-crossing producer and vocalist, Rvssian, the song is a sexy little Dancehall track that’s definitely invited to the cookout. Darkoo takes on the first verse and chorus while Davido jumps on the next and she swoops back in with a hook, crossing in and closing the song perfectly. It’s just the kind of music you sway your waist to and enjoy, no questions asked. Check out, ‘Right Now’, it’s the next best thing!
Mr. Vibez: Feeling Station
Mr. Vibez releases a two-pack EP, called ‘Feeling Station’. The EP features an Afro-fusion track; ‘Let it go’ and another called ‘W.I.N.S’. ‘Let it go’ is a lyrically deep track, that talks about the difficulty of letting go but also having an unrelenting drive to keep moving, moving with one’s ‘head up high’. It is a song of hope, trust and confidence in oneself. The song combines elements of soul, Afro-pop and a bit of trap music. W.I.N.S, captivates listeners straight from the Spanish guitar that opens the track and Mr. Vibez swoops in holding it down with his powerful lyrics and flow. You do not want to miss out on ‘Feeling station’!
Jamie Blvck, Sigag Lauren: Bananas
Dance music artiste, DJ and super creative Producer, Jamie Blvck creates a soulful and powerful Afro-house rhythm featuring Sigag Lauren. From the soft and intoxicating vocals of the artiste, to the rich, melodiously stacked music, ‘Bananas’ is a sonic wonderland that makes one feel like floating, transcending and having an out of body experience, truly capturing the feeling of going bananas. The producer manages to work in some soft Afro-EDM, with gentle Amapiano drums and it is purely a feeling of paradise. Check out ‘Bananas’.
Obongjayar: Just my luck/Tomorrow Man
Alternative music-genius Obongjayar, experiments both Western sound and African music under the same magical umbrella, with his double single ‘Just my luck’ /‘Tomorrow man’. This double single is what we call pure, unadulterated creative expression. ‘Just my luck’ is a classic ‘80s pop’ track with a touch of his usual African style and is a finger-licking, catchy summer vibe. Accprding to Obongjayar’, it ‘is a song about loneliness, about wanting part of a crowd and the fear of missing out’ but ultimately choosing to embrace uniqueness. ‘Tomorrow Man’ though, is an entirely different composition on its own. With a juxtaposition of the weirdest yet coolest drums you’ve ever heard, ‘Tomorrow man’ is an upbeat combination of different African influences, carrying heavily the influence of Fela’s style of Afrobeats, anda wide combination of Afro-pop, high life, fast-paced samba and other African music. It is everything and everything in between. ‘Just My luck/Tomorrow Man’ is just what you need to kickstart your day, from the simple good-vibes of ‘Just My luck’, to the energetic and commanding spell of ‘Tomorrow Man’, You are bound to have the most productive day!
