Afro-music artiste Lovince has just dropped a two-pack EP; Light up/Diva featuring the young and new sensation of the moment; Ayo Maff on its second track ‘Light up’.]Lovince Mckenzie, professionally known simply as Lovince, is a Kenya-born, US-based singer, songwriter, and videographer. Lovince’s style and sound are beautifully influenced by his international experiences from the US, Europe, and across sub-Saharan Africa. This EP is exactly the kind that is sure to be a hit. It is such a cross-cultural blend of sound, style, inflections, and rhythm. The first track ‘Diva’ is a sweet lover boy anthem. An appraisal of this beautiful and perfect woman. Lovince does not shy away from his language here, flooding it with the chorus, making it more wholesome and beautiful to hear! Likewise, the feature with Ayo maff carries with it a particular African spirit, reflecting both unique blends of each artiste. A difference in style with a common ground unison of rich Afro-music.

Jinmi Abduls: Awero

Nigerian hitmaker, preacher of all things love, passion, devotion, and heartbreak with all the emotions interwoven or embedded in them; Jinmi Abduls stuns us with another hit new single for the year. Jinmi Abduls is a Lagos-based singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is well renowned for his versatile music prowess, seamlessly traversing the sonic realms of Afrobeats, highlife, and an innovative fusion known as; Neo-Juju music/Afrojuju. His new single, Awero, is a love devotional song, an appraisal of a beautiful lady with the promise of a lovely future together. The song, its lyrics, and its general vibe are made with the feel of an Oriki; a praise poetry; common amongst people of Yoruba culture. Unsurprisingly, as a proper Yoruba boy, constantly repping his heritage and the beauty of his culture; he fills the music with talking drums; a mix of the traditional with a modern musical interpretation. Awero is worth the listen and you might find yourself leaving it stuck on repeat.

Mansa Cole: Nostalgia

Minz ft Davido:

A picture of Minz

Afrobeats meets the sweet, slow, sway of R&B in this magical dive of music. On the utterly electrifying track,  ‘Wap’, Minz dives headfirst into our feelings with his charming vocals, leaving us intoxicated with the music, in our feels and in a haze we do not want to get out of. Born and raised in Surulere, in the heart of Lagos, Minz emerges as one of the most iconic new voices emerging from the Nigerian music scene. Constantly defying the traditional and ‘usual’ ways of what is considered ‘Industry standard’, he describes his music as “Very wavy music with an underlying rhythm of Afrobeats”. We feel all of the waviness on the new single ‘Wap’, featuring the veteran young Nigerian music icon/legend, Davido. This collaboration, is just the right icing layering this cake. The two deliver their various parts and sing together to a very seamless and harmonious end, blending so well.
