Welcome once again to ‘Artistes of the Week’. As always we bring to yo, a fresh batch of artistes we loved this week, all a welcome addition to your playlists. Let’s dive in.

 

Laeorx: Island Life

Today, we begin with Laeorx. Born Otaniyen Efeosa, Laeorx is a Nigerian singer and songwriter, hailing from the hearts of Benin City. Growing up in one of the city’s most deprived and dangerous neighbourhood, young Laeorx would often turn to music as a medium of escape from his reality. After falling in love with music at the age of 14, he started composing songs and has worked tirelessly on his craft since then. His new track ‘Island life’, touches on the woes of adulthood; from the constant need to distance oneself, to the circles of unrequited love and the lavish lifestyle. Check out, Island Life.

 

Gerad The Great: Cashout

Gerad The Great drops new Afro-pop fusion track, Cashout. Born and raised in Lagos, his love for Trap music fused , helps in the production of his peculiar sound and style. Cashout, is A blend of slow and steady rap mixed with echo-like vocals and a nice call and response bridge. A track of calm enjoyment and making money. Check out Cashout!

Solidstar: Necessary

Joshua Iniyezo Solidstar, better known by his stage name Solidstar, is a Nigerian highlife and Afro-pop recording artist, songwriter, producer, actor and Model. He rose to prominence in 2010 following the release of  “One In A Million”, his first single from his debut album “One In A Million”, featuring his idol role model, 2face Idibia. He also won the Nigeria Music video award for the best new artiste, with the track. He has since remained on the entertainment scene, a jack of all trades, and is regarded as one of Nigeria’s most consistent artistes. Back with a solid amapiano banger, Necessary, Solidstar promises the love song of the summer with this one. Do well to check it out!

 

Fazil: Migraine

The Afrobeats loverboy and sensational singer-songwriter, Fazil has just released a beautiful new Afro-fusion track ‘Migraine’. Fazil, serves breathtaking vocals on a magical and rhythmic flow of creatively chosen and displayed instrumentation. We are simply blown away by how much lovely commotion this hit single is bound to cause. Short and sweet, enough to keep on repeat, Migraine is a sonorous track about a lady so alluring she gives one a Migraine, enough to “turn an OG to Dundee”. Mellajones: Blood on the leaves

George Yakunbu Dafei, better known by his stage name Mellajones, is a Nigerian rapper, record producer and sound engineer rooted in the music of soulful Hiphop and Afrobeatss. His musical career began in 2019 as he dropped his first official single. His debut album, ‘Common story’, received universal acclaim upon release and is considered among many to be one of the greatest African Hip hop albums in 2022. ShineTTW: Sakura

Chukwuma Ferdinard also known as, ShineTTW is an incredibly promising Nigerian singer born August 13, hailing from the southeastern part of Nigeria. His love for music can be said to be deeply rooted in his genes and childhood after being raised in a creative household with his Dad as a Dj at the time. The artiste, does a lovely Afro fusion piece of Afro beats and Salsa type music on his new single Sakura. The eclectic beat keeps you drawn in, hips swayed and heads turned side to side. It is an ethereal music lover’s haven, undeniably worth the listen. Check out Sakura!
