Hi there! Welcome again to 'Artistes of the Week', July. As always, we hit you with our best picks of artists for the week and their latest releases. Let's Dive in!

 

Nelsane: Odeyshi

Emmanuel Nelson, known by his stage name Nelsane (Pronounced Nel-sane) is a sensational Nigerian singer-songwriter and rising star in the music scene. He has long since captivated audiences with his soulful sound and heartfelt lyrics. His stage name, NELSANE, is a fusion of his middle name Nelson, and the word "sane". For him, it's a creative combination that reflects his artistic vision and represents his journey. His musical journey began at the age of 18, at the University of Cross River State, where he studied  Mechanical Engineering. Despite the initial skepticism he faced from his family, his passion for music grew stronger and he released his debut single; 'Desire' in October 2020. Since then, he has continued to make his mark in the industry. He has recently dropped a soulful Afrobeat track called 'Odeyshi'.

 

Maleek Berry: Secrets

Beautiful, producer, artiste, and songwriter has reemerged once again, in the music world with another afro-pop banger. 'Berry Pon this' is true pon this one, declaring a lover boy season as he pulls this hot new track from the archives of  Berry's room. Whether the tracks are made for himself or others, nearly everything produced by the music maestro is highly percussive and melodic, made for dancing and romancing. Active since the early 2010s, the British-born Nigerian artist became an in-house producer for Wizkid's Star-boy Entertainment in 2013. After working for the likes of WandeCoal, Davido, Wizkid, and Wale, he released his own hit pop single 'Kontrol', a wonderful breakout that topped the charts and was on every countdown. He released his debut EP, Last Daze of Summer through his label, Berry's Room, in 2016. His latest release; ‘Secrets’, is yet another confirmation of his mastermind prowess. Be it to make something simple, soulful, or enigmatic, he always knows how to sway the crowd.

 

Shoody B ft Bhaboi OML: Wake up

Shoddy B and Bhadboi OML team up together, to curate their new Afrobeat single; Wake up. From a tender age, Shoddy B had shown an exceptional affinity for music, mesmerizing listeners with soulful vocals and the ability to connect directly with concertgoers and music lovers. Drawing inspiration from diverse genres, he effortlessly fuses soulful R&B melodies with infectious pop hooks. He lets loose some of his diversity on his new Afrobeats single featuring Bhadboi OML. Bhadboi OML, with his yearning vocals and bright kinetic rhythms, is that artiste whose sound synthesizes the classic Afrobeat sounds of icons like Fela Kuti into a modern framework. Check out their joint new single; 'Wake up'.

 

Lamey: Robinhood/Gen Z vibes

From working his music with beautiful samples of creatives before him to infusing traditional Apala into a modern fusion of his own, Lamey is striking in hard as a new Afrobeats sensation, with his new 2-pack EP; Robinhood/Gen Z. 'Robinhood' is a rap-style song with a wonderful rhythm and captivating log drums. He makes a wonderful transition into 'Gen Z vibes', a sweet and slower-paced kind of rhythm, where the lovely guitar bass-line and melody shine through, making a perfect harmony with its modern high-life type of drums, topped with his beautiful vocals.

 

Kofi Jamar: On the Road

Kofi Jamar features Kweku Smoke, on his new Afro-fusion track, 'On the Road'. The track features touches of diverse genre elements, mixing in Afrobeats with drill music, pop, and a touch of hyper-pop rhythm, giving its listeners multiple feelings at once. It is a cross between good drill rap energy and a hype-rave kind of energy at the hook, making you feel energetic and hopeful. The artiste Derrick Osei Kuffour Prempeh (born April 7, 1995), better known by his stage name Kofi Jamar, is a Ghanaian rapper, singer, and songwriter from Bantama, Kumasi. With the originality and creativity, as well as the emotion he conveys in his music, Jamar has amassed quite a large number audiences from the major towns in Kumasi, famous among college students and youths alike. Check out his newest release, ‘On the Road’.

 

Bad Habeat: Shayo
