Artistes of the week: Feb (Part 2)
Welcome dear reader, to this Week’s edition of Artistes of the Week. Just like always, we bring you fresh new releases and welcome additions to your playlists. Today we have the likes of Little Simz, Tobi Adu, Fazil, and many others.
Kayode: Never Tired
Afro-fusion artiste Kayode releases his new Afrobeat fusion track, Never Tired mixing in beautifully some sweet elements of EDM pop and Trap. Kayode, also known as Kaykay, is a songwriting and performing artiste from Lagos Nigeria. His background in music started at an early age where he played the piano and bass guitar before moving on to produce music professionally. His versatility in production largely influenced his life and career as a musician/songwriter, helping him create just the kind of music he wished to hear. The artiste dabbles in a wide-spread range of genres; ranging from Drill to hip-hop, trap and RnB. He first started gaining media attention from his freestyles and covers on Instagram, growing steadily with each release. The hard bop begins with high pitched sped up vocals, sealing in that DJ feel and club energy, with the rest of the music. Never Tired is just the kind of song to “Turn up” to as Kayode sings of satisfaction, the grind, contentment, success, and his interest in pure enjoyment, things he is Never tired of. Little Simz: Mood swings
Our favorite diaspora artiste, Simbiatu Ajikawo, a.k.a Little Simz, drops her new energetic EDM techno track titled Mood Swings. Little Simz, had her world in the music industry completely rocked as she experienced, a skyrocketing push from being the local musical talent hero to an international superstar overnight. When her album “Sometimes I Might Be Introvert”, came along, it was treated as an instant classic, landing its way up to No. 4 on the UK Official Albums Chart and earning her four BRIT nominations. Her new music, Mood Swings, drawn from her album “Drop 7”, features an electric disco pop with an eclectic mix of African drums, adding a futuristic texture to her roots and its musical influences. The track embodies a form of alternative powerful, space-girl, boss energy similar to the ambiance of Renaissance and capturing the energy of the modern queen of RnB, Beyonce. Fans of the Beyhive will particularly be drawn to this work of art. An experimental work of creative sounds and different musical influences meeting, clashing, and colliding to make a harmonious masterpiece. Check out the song, Mood Swings!
Tobi Adu: MY EX + DELILAH
Following the imminent success of his hit song, Claro and its remix, with Bad Boy Timz, Tobi Adu is back, bigger, and here to stay with his new Two-pack EP release; MY EX + DELILAH. The two-pack was produced by the amazing, venomous producer, Fade Venom and the hottest on the block, 01FRNCH. On my ex, the sonorous storyteller, sings of a painful past experience, with a past lover. Free from any regrets, he sings with an assurance that he no longer wants a love that does not serve him. Moving on from, infuriating painful experiences, Delilah comes on with a stronger energy, and powerful drums, here the artiste expresses himself on being raptured by someone so consuming, a Delilah.
Muis: Muis the ep
Muis Ajao Oyindamola, known professionally as Muis, is a talented singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist, hailing from Lagos Nigeria. Formerly known as King AMO, He started his music career in 2018, during his third year at the University of Lagos, where he currently studies Medicine and surgery. Muis is all passion, dedication and brains. In 2021, he signed a management deal with Chase Music and was involved in a number of projects. In the year of 2023, he re branded himself and came up with the name Muis. Check out his latest release, the beautiful Afrobeat EP “Muis”.
Fazil x Niniola: Jeje remix
