Hi there! Welcome to Artistes of the Week, August edition. We’re kicking off the August rush with new awesome sounds to carry us through the week. Once again, we bring you new releases from your favourite artistes or your newest addictions.

Darkoo: Favorite Girl  (with Rema)

We begin this week with the infamous ‘Favorite girl’ but a 2.0 version. Yes you heard that right! Darkoo kicks it up a notch and makes us more enthralled, with his newest version of, ‘Favorite Girl (with Rema)’, featuring the Afrobeats prince and raving sensation, Rema. The two bad boys create a combination that’s undeniably tasty and will you clicking ‘Add to favourite’ really quickly. Darkoo first released the sultry summer anthem ‘Favorite Girl’ with Dess Dior, on the 2^nd of May. Teasers of the track dropped all over social media, and it was used on a lot of Snapchat videos and Tiktok sounds. It quickly became a fan favourite, due to its flipped sample of the R&B Ballad, ‘Love is Wicked’ by Brick and lace, hitting fans with a sense of familiarity. Asake: Lungu Boy

The long wait is finally over, as Asake releases new album, ‘Lungu Boy’. Asake, Mr. No bad songs, ‘Mr. Money with the Vibe’ and back to back hits, begins the album with a cool and nostalgic piece of Asa’s ‘Eye Adaba’, a short and simple intro that sets his listeners ready and excited for what’s to come beyond. Asake is an artiste that is well known for his perfect chronological arrangement of the tracks in his album lineup, to give his listeners a beautiful sonic journey and experience. This is a testament to his dedication and love for the art and once again, he stacks his music with perfect taste and great attention to detail. KAESTYLE ft Kizz Daniel: My Dealer Remix

KAESTYLE features Kizz Daniel on his new remix of ‘My dealer’, and the hit song goes from a banger level to a supreme banger level. On this remix, the sweet, modern Afro-high life song gets a taste of Afropop and Afrobeats style as well as a hint of fuji vocals, with the aid of Kizz Daniel’s new and welcome addition. Kaestyle was born in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. He is a recording artiste and music producer who enjoys making music spontaneously, with a fusion of R&B and Afrobeats with his usual street smart lyrics. Logos Olori: Yawa

New DMW signee, Logos Olori, releases new Afrobeats track ‘Yawa’. Born Olalekan Emeka Taiwo, Logos Olori is a talented Nigerian singer-Songwriter who has made significant impact in the music industry, through his unique musical style and exceptional songwriting skills. Originally starting his journey as a producer, Logos Olori found inspiration from established artists and decided to embark on a journey to establish himself as a prominent figure in Nigeria’s vibrant music scene. The artiste gained widespread popularity after his feature with Davido on ‘Picasso’, one of the hit songs from Davido’s album ‘Timeless’. In February 2024, he released his debut EP, titled ‘Olori’, which has been well received and continues to make waves across the continent. Check out his latest single, ‘Yawa’.

DJ Shawn ft Falz, Magnito, Pheelz: Lifestyle

Famous DJ, performer, composer and singer; DJ Shawn, features a stellar cast of Nigerian acts on his new single; Lifestyle. The Record producer, songwriter and singer, Pheelz, the musician, actor and Legendary rapper, Falz as well as the Nigerian Rap Maestro Magnito, all team up with DJ Shawn to create the soundscape of madness on ‘Lifestyle’. There is playful, conversational banter kind of rap between Magnito and Falz, while Pheelz goes on to complement both rappers. Check out ‘Lifestyle’!

Stonebwoy ft Wyclef Jean: Pray for Me

Stonwbwoy, the Ghanaian musician and multidimensional afrobeat phenomenon hops on to the music scene to make his mark with the release of his hot new song “Pray For Me.” He features the legendary music icon, superstar and songwriter Wyclef Jean.  The two seamlessly blend well together on this new track, infusing musical talents to an enthralling tune. Check out the harmonious track; Pray for me
